Jin Niu Lake is seated in the north east of Luhe District which is 50 kilometers away from Nan Jing city. It is the boundary lake of three cities between Jiangsu province and Anhui province. The famous historic Yangzhou city is on its east side and the city of Anhui is on its north side. It is convenient to go have a visit thanks to metro line S8.
Jin Niu Lake which was constructed in 1958 and covers an area of 25000 mu (≈16km²) is the biggest man-made lake in Nanjing. It is fed mainly from surface water and rainfall through the catchment area of 124.14 km², and it has a volume of nearly 100 million m³s. The good ecological quality of water resources has kept Jin Niu Lake up to the standard of Class II Surface Water. Moreover, multiple types of aquatic products raised in the lake are entirely natural and the lake is recognized as an organic aquaculture base by the government.
